Pick up / set down bay
A Universal drop off bay is located on Wellington Street outside of the Perth Train Station or in Francis Street.

External access and entrance
  • Wide level access off the Cultural Centre precinct with a tactile path leading from the Perth Train Station concourse level, past the front entrance. There is sufficient space for all styles of wheelchairs to approach the Art Gallery. 
  • An automatic sliding door enters off the Cultural Centre forecourt. Ground level through the BP Community Trust Gallery.
  • A shaded outdoor area with bench style seating with armrests.
  • Access via a 75cm wide heavy swing door with a small step ramp on the outside
Internal area
  • Seating throughout the gallery is low upholstered couch or bench style.
Lift short description
  • Link Building, off the BP Community Trust Gallery on the ground level of the Main Gallery and provides a lift and link to the ground floor of the Centenary Building

  • Signage is well located and has large print and clear colour contrast
  • Printed information has clear print and good colour contrast. 
  • Display labels and information generally below 1.2 metres in height and in a clear font. 
Equipment for people with disabilities
  • Contact the Art Gallery for more specific details.
  • 1 manual wheelchair for which booking is advised and 1 electric wheelchair. It is essential that a booking be made for the electric wheelchair 24 hours prior to visit.
  • Sensational Art’, touch tours available by request. Bookings can be made with the Art Gallery’s Public Programs office on  8 9492 6644 or by email educate@artgallery.wa.gov.au.
  • Internally produced videos have open captioning.
  • Externally produced videos have a written transcript.
  • Hand held written information for all exhibitions available in large print.
    Tours can include an Auslan interpreter on request. Minimum tour group number 10. Bookings can be made with the Art Gallery’s Public Programs office on  8 9492 6644 .
  • Assistance dogs and guide dogs are welcome.

  • Internal controls: Internal controls are 1.4 metres to 1.5 metres high and all controls illuminate when pressed.

Rooms

Caffissimo at the Gallery
  • Location off the Art Gallery foyer
  • Opening hours. Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday 9.00am to 5.00pm
  • Level access through automatic sliding doors from the Art Gallery foyer or directly off Cultural Centre forecourt.
  • Sufficient space for users of walking aids and wheelchairs. 
  • Food Counter is sitting height.
  • Chairs and table are moveable. Tables have a central pedestal. Table menus are in clear print and good colour contrast. 
  • Art Gallery accessible toilet can be used during Art Gallery opening hours.
Centenary Galleries
  • A heritage building on two levels with sufficient circulation space for users of all wheelchair styles to view all exhibitions.
  • Ramp:
  • Provides access to displays on two levels on the ground floor of the Centenary building. The wide ramp is 11 metres long ramp and has a gradient of 1:14.  
The Art Gallery Shop
  • Location: Ground level opposite the main desk
  • Circulation Space the Art Gallery. Movement throughout the shop is restricted to smaller style wheelchairs, however space in the foyer would allow all types of wheelchairs access

  • Directly off the main entrance. The two galleries are spacious.
