External access and entrance
- Entrance is via 9 steps with handrails or a ramp.
- The 1.2 metre wide ramp with handrails is 30 metres long with a central landing. The ramp has a gradient of 1:19 to 1:16.
- Entrance has two door ways. The accessible entrance is via a 1 metre wide automatic swing door. It is located next to a large revolving door with a 'push to slow door' button at sitting height.
Internal area
- Large ground floor foyer area with council services such as Information, Planning and Development and the Cashier at counters 1 metre high.
- The Information counter has a lowered section at sitting height and the Better Hearing card on display. Information brochures are in a large wall mounted display from standing height.
- The cashier has a security screen with the speech area at 1 metre.
- Seating area near the Information desk has lounge chairs with armrests at a coffee table. Drinking fountain at sitting height.
- Floor is a mix of tiles and carpet.

- Room identification on Level 2 is clear black lettering on a small silver sign.

Melville Discovery Centre

- A 1.4 metre wide entrance open at all times.
- Floor is predominately carpet with tiles at the entrance.
- Displays are set at a height to suit children, 70cm to the top, aisles are wide and information is in large clear print on numerous banner displays.
- The television with a continuous display of visual information has a lounge area with low seats with armrests.
- There is some movement activated audio information.
Level 2
- A spacious mezzanine with seats and tables, art work displays and a unisex accesisble toilet.
- All function rooms and council chambers are located off this area.
- Floor is carpeted.
