External access and entrance
  • The library is located on the first floor of one40william.
  • There is an escalator off the Murray Street entrance to the building or lift access to the first level.
  • The lift is accessed via the forecourt off either Murray or William Street.
  • There is a spacious, tiled, covered piazza outside the lift and to the approach to the library.
  • There is a wide, level entrance with automatic doors.
  • Entrace is through security pedestals, 85cm wide, located on an angle to the front doors.

Internal area
  • The library is located at the Wellington street end of the first floor piazza.
  • The spacious, open plan library has a carpeted floor and suffcieint space for users of wheelchairs and walking aids to reach all areas.
  • The return chute is located inside the library near the entrance, with the return chute 1.1 metres high.
  • The enquiries and loans counter is 95cm high.  There is a lowered section of counter 75cm high with seating provided.
  • There is sufficeint space for users of wheelchairs and walking aids to approach the counter.
  • Throughout the library there are a variety of seating options including lounge chairs and chairs with and without armrests.
  • The displays and information brochures are located at standing height.
  • Public access computers are at desks that are triangular in shape, 72cm wide and narrowing at the rear of the desk.  The desks are a standard height of 71cm with 69cm knee clearance.
  • Chairs have armrests.
  • The aisles are 135cm wide with an opening at the end allowing a person using a mobility device to move to the next aisle.
  • Books are on display from floor height to a height of 1.3 metres.

History Centre

  • Desk space is available at the main counter.  It is 73cm high with 68cm knee clearance.

Blue Room
  • The Blue Room is located directly off the main library area through a swing door which is 86cm wide.
  • The Blue Room is locked with the key available from the front enquiries desk.
  • Desks in this room are 74cm high with 69cm knee clearance.  Seating provided is 47cm high without armrests.
