Closest accessible parking

  • Upper level accessible parking (best serving the Arena, Hall of Champions or Champions Club, plus ticketing and Aquatic Centre)
    Five clearly identified bays on even bitumen with a slope from front to back of 1:15.
    Bays are 3.2 metres wide and 5.2 metres long
  • Vehicle access from: Stephenson Avenue
  • Pedestrian access: The bays and car park are set on an incline.
    Access to the complex is across the slightly sloping car park to a wide path that connects to the entry doors leading to the aquatic reception.

Pick up / set down bay
A long drop off area is provided in the lower car park for buses.
A shelter is provided which has bench seating plus one wheelchair parking space.
Access from the car park to the footpath is via a vehicle mountable kerb.
External access and entrance
  • Reception counter is at standing height, 1.1 metres.
  • Entrance to the aquatic centre is via a gate and a flight of steps with handrails on both sides and colour contrast step edges.
  • The alternative entrance is via two 1.25 metre wide ramps approximately 21 metres long each with landings, a gradient of 1:14 and hand rails on both sides. Ramps have a carpet surface.
  • Customers using the alternative entrance are required to call for staff assistance to gain access through a 90cm wide security door. The call bell is 1.45 metres high.

All signage is large and in good colour contrast with print in capital letters.

Drinking fountains are provided near the pools and are at standing height.

Change Room

Accessible change facility

  • Gender: Female
  • Description: There are male and female accessible change facilties provided off the corridor alongside the indoor pool deck.
    The change area and showers are communal. A private accessible toilet cubicle with basin is opposite the shower area.
    The information below relates to the female facility (change room 3), the male facility is a mirror image.
  • Availability: Available to Aquatic Centre customers.
  • Signage: Access symbol on door.
  • Change room door: A 76cm wide door off a 1.1 metre wide corridor, opening into a 1 metre wide internal corridor. Staff will latch the door in the open position when required. The door is heavy to open with a high D handle. The toilet cubicle door is 78cm wide with a D handle and a large lock. The door is light to open and has no self closing mechanism.
  • Shower: The level entry shower is communal style with fixed height shower head and a twist tap 1.4 metres high. Entry to the communal shower area is through a wide gap.
    Fixed height wooden benches are in the communal change area. Benches are 50cm high.

Unisex accessible toilet and shower

  • Gender: Unisex
  • Description: Two unisex accessible toilet and shower facilities are available to Aquatic Centre patrons. The two facilities are a mirror image of each other.
    These two facilities are associated with the Fitness Centre and therefore require lifeguard staff to unlock the secure entrance door. The double door is 77cm wide when one door is open.
  • Signage: Access symbol on toilet door.
  • Change room door: The 76cm wide door has a lever handle. It is light to open with no self closing mechanism.
  • Shower: Level entry shower recess with a 50cm high fixed height bench and a hand held shower hose.
    A plastic garden style chair, 43cm high with armrests is also provided.

Rooms

Indoor 50 metre lap pool
Lap pool with ladder entry, with handrails.
Electric hoist can be set in place by staff on request.
The electric hoist has a plastic moulded seat and the left hand side armrest lifts back to allow for a transfer onto the seat.
There is a priority bench seat near the lifeguard station. Other seating is plastic chairs with armrests.
Tiered seating overlooking indoor pools
The tiered seating is accessed off the concourse level of the stadium. Access is directly to the seating with steps to all seats.
Wheelchair seating is at pool deck level. Chairs with armrests are available at pool deck level.
The scoreboard is large, with yellow LED on black.

Double doors 67cm wide when one door is open. Heavy to open and slow to close. D handle.
Three steps with one handrail or via a 1.2 metre wide ramp, 7 metres long with handrails and a gradient up to 1:14.
