Closest accessible parking

  • One clearly identified accessible parking bay outside the beachside café.
  • Level bitumen surface, bay is 3.8 metres wide and 5.5 metres long.
  • The main car park for Coogee Beach and Reserve has marked bays.
  • Vehicle access from: Powell Road
  • Pedestrian access: Level surface from the bay, through a 1 metre wide gap that leads to the bitumen driveway and wide path that connect the park and beach facilities.

  • There is a wide bitumen path from the car park to the beach and jetty.  This path is the driveway for the surf club and also serves as the pedestrian access to the beach.
  • The path from the car park to the surf club is approximately 40 metres long.
  • The path from the surf club to the top of the beach dunes where there is a seating area is approximtaley 100 metres long with a gradient raning between 1:33 up to 1:17, following the contours of the dunes.
Picnic facilities
  • There are sheltered picnic facilties at the Coogee Beach Reserve, at Coogee Beach.
  • There are a number of picnic tables, all connected to the main paths in the park and set on a concrete pad.
  • There is fixed bench seating on both sides of the table with a seating space 85cm wide at both sides suitable for a wheelchair user. Table is 85cm high with 78cm knee clearance.

Play area
  • The unfenced playground is set over sand with a low wall around the edge.
  • Shade sails in summer.
  • Access is via a paved pathway leading onto grass.

  • There are a number of barbeques in the Reserve.
  • One barbeque is located off the main path, the remaining are across grass. All are set on a concrete pad.
  • Cooking surface is 90cm high and the push button control is at sitting height.
Drinking fountain
  • Numerous drinking fountains located within the Reserve, set on main pathways.
  • They have a push button operation at sitting height.
Jetty access
  • Access onto the jetty is via a wide bitumen path, sloping down for approximately 30 metres with an average gradient of 1:16.
  • The wide wooden jetty comprises three 10 metre ramps, average gradient of 1:12, with regular landings. It has handrails and kerb rails.  There are gaps between the boards up to 2cm.
  • Off the wooden jetty is another ramp with a slip resistant plastic finish.  There is a swinging gate at the top with no latch which is easy to open and close.  It consists of a series of three sections 10 metres in length with large landings.  There is a handrail on one side.
Equipment for people with disabilities
  • A Beach Trekker wheelchair is available to loan from the Coogee Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. It can be used to move form the surf club to the shore and to enter the water.
  • The wheelchair needs to be booked for a 1.5 hour time slot through the City of Cockburn on 08 9411 3432 or the lifesavers at Coogee Beach. There is no charge but ID is required.
  • Beach wheelchair has a load capacity of 120kg and an instruction booklet is available from the City of Cockburn or on pick up.

Coogee Beach
  • There is a concrete ramp to the beach.  It comprises two lengths each 20 metres long.  The ramp is 1.2 metres wide with a wider section midway for passing.
  • Park bench seating without armreats is located at the midway landing.
  • The sand ramp to the beach is steep but variable in gradient.
  • There is also a set of stairs to the beach, handrail on one side.

Outdoor showers
  • There are outdoor showers located along the main, bitumen driveway and path to the beach.
  • The showers have a push button at standing height and each are accessed via a ramp or the sloped bitumen driveway and path to the beach.
  • Each shower has a grab rail surround.
